Have you checked if the minimum wage increase effects you?
The Government announced their plans to boost incomes and grow New Zealand’s economy on 24th January 2017. As a result the minimum wage will increase by 50 cents to $15.75 on 1st April 2017.
The starting out and training hourly rates will also increase in April, from $12.20 to $12.60, which is 80% of the adult minimum wage.
Although the minimum wage excludes those under the age of 16, it is important to remember that as soon as they have their 16th birthday they must be paid the relevant minimum wage.
As Employers you will need to ensure that by 1st April 2017, that you have identified which Employees are on minimum wage for their hourly rate (or salary), and process their increase through your payroll system.
