Hendrix Genetics is seeking a dedicated Farm Supervisor to play a crucial role in ensuring smooth hatchery operations, from egg production to chick delivery. This position is key to ensuring top-notch animal health, optimal productivity, and compliance with biosecurity and health standards.
About the role:
You will take a hands-on approach in leading a team to ensure smooth, efficient operations by monitoring feed, water, and environmental conditions while completing egg collection, grading, and packing. You'll lead and support a team, to ensure efficient and high quality poultry care with top-tier biosecurity and animal welfare in mind. You will also:
Adhere to biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Maintain accurate records and prepare regular reports for management.
Assist in training new and existing staff on best practices for poultry care, biosecurity measures, and animal welfare standards.
Promote and follow health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment
Attend regular health and safety audits and training sessions.
Optimise resource use, including feed, water, and labour, to achieve operational efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and animal welfare
The ideal Farm Supervisor:
You will be a proactive team player, bringing a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to the role. Ideally, you will also have this following:
Proven experience in poultry care, preferably in a farm or hatchery setting, with a solid understanding of biosecurity and animal welfare standards.
Basic skills in data collection and simple calculations related to feed, production, or environmental metrics.
Basic Computer Skills
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proficiency or an understanding of farm management software and record-keeping.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work additional hours if required, including weekends and holidays.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety in the workplace.
This is a full-time role, with a minimum of 40 hours a week. The pay for this is $76,000 - $84,000 per annum, depending on experience.
