Minimum Wage Increase 2023
We did not expect to see the adult minimum wage increasing again this year, nonetheless, taking effect from Saturday 1 April 2023, minimum wage will increase from $21.20 to $22.70 per hour. The 7.2% increase aligns with the annual inflation recorded in December 2022.
The starting-out and training minimum wage rates will also increase from $16.96 to $18.16 per hour, remaining at 80% of the adult minimum wage.
You will need to ensure that by the 28 March, you have identified which Employees hourly rate (or salary) falls below the new minimum wage and process their increase through your payroll system to take effect from 1 April 2023.
